About Bianca Antonia Torres

A Lifelong Passion for Flamenco.
For Bianca Antonia Torres, flamenco has been a lifelong passion, one that began long before she ever stepped into a dance studio.
Born and raised in Texas, Bianca was just eight years old when she witnessed her first flamenco performance along the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas. Captivated by the music, movement, and emotion of the dancers, she fell in love with flamenco that day.
In 1992, at the age of 14, Bianca began studying flamenco under the guidance of Lucía Rodríguez Sánchez. What began as a childhood fascination grew into a lifelong dedication to the study, performance, and promotion of this extraordinary art form.
The Beginning of an Artistic Journey

In 1999, Bianca appeared in Lucía y Valdemar’s Gitanerías film, Gráfico, marking an early milestone in her performing career.
In 2000, she established her first flamenco cuadro, Pasión Gitana, bringing together artists to share the traditional elements of flamenco dance and music with audiences in Texas.
Building upon that experience, Bianca founded Flamenco Andaluz in 2004. Through the ensemble, she continued developing and presenting flamenco performances that celebrated the relationship between dance, guitar, song, and rhythm.
Performances & Artistic Experience
With Flamenco Andaluz, Bianca has performed at distinguished venues, universities, and cultural events throughout Texas.
Her performance history includes appearances at Jones Hall, Baylor University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Houston, as well as events associated with the Texas Attorney General’s office.
Her work has also included performances for events involving Univision, Café Bustelo, and numerous private, corporate, and cultural organizations across the state.
Through these experiences, Bianca has had the opportunity to introduce flamenco to a wide variety of audiences, from intimate gatherings to larger theatrical and institutional settings.
Continuing the Tradition
Bianca believes that flamenco is an art form that requires continued study, discipline, and respect for its traditions.
Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to study with influential flamenco artists, including Antonio Granero, Omayra Amaya, Timo Lozano, María Serrano, Concha Jareño, Inmaculada Ortega, and Sara Martín, among others.
These experiences have contributed to her artistic development and deepened her appreciation for the many styles, interpretations, and traditions within flamenco.
For Bianca, the study of flamenco is an ongoing journey. Each opportunity to learn, rehearse, collaborate, and perform offers another way to grow as an artist.
Sharing Flamenco with New Audiences
Based in Houston, Texas, Bianca continues to share her passion for flamenco through live performances, private celebrations, corporate events, weddings, and cultural gatherings.
Whether performing with live musicians or presenting a more intimate dance performance, her goal remains the same: to offer audiences an engaging and authentic flamenco experience.
What began with an unforgettable flamenco performance along the San Antonio River Walk when she was just eight years old has become a lifelong artistic journey. More than three decades after beginning her formal studies, Bianca remains dedicated to celebrating the traditions of flamenco and sharing its beauty with new generations of audiences.
Flamenco is more than a performance. It is a lifelong passion.
